Welcome to NW Textile Art

Exploring the beauty of natural art crafted in Suffolk, where natural dyes and fibres are used to create unique pieces that reflect harmony between art and nature.

About the art

Natural Dyes

Discovering the potential of natural dyes from locally grown plants to transform fabrics and threads. Inspired by the environment the pieces are created using a variety of plants like nettle, hawthorn, pine, daffodil, and alder. Enjoy the distinct charm of art that reflects and incorporates nature.

Natural Weaves

Crafted from plant fibres like daffodils, nettle, and pine, these pieces showcase intricate designs that allow for stunning 3D effects. Creating wall pieces and striking structures such as bowls and cubes, these works of art celebrate nature and provides a unique perspective.

Structural Weaves

Working with foraged and harvested natural materials like British Willow and Birch, these pieces transform raw material into forms that showcase nature's beauty. Telling a story through their shape and incorporating natural fibres they display the utility of both the natural and created world.

Cordage

Created by hand from foraged natural fibres such as nettle and daffodil lead, and preloved materials such as sari silk, this cordage displays the wild and the repurposed. Each length carries its own story, from the landscapes where the fibres were gathered to the former lives of the fabrics woven within, highlighting nature and the beauty found in second lives.
